Holly Bennett is a physical therapist and early career science writer with avid interests in older adult falls prevention, acute care conservative rehabilitation, and life/health science grant programs. She received her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology at Texas Tech University and Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Holly is currently a Senior Funding Analyst at Grantify, where she assists with grant applications for the National Science Foundation’s Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program. Holly also has experience in reviewing and proofreading grants from the National Institute of Health (NIH), contributing to advancing critical research initiatives. She has personally advised on over 100 US grant applications.
Holly has served as the first-ever Student Liaison for the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy (AGPT) Balance and Falls Special Interest Group during her academic career. Within that role, she promoted clinically relevant tools for use in balance and falls management for student members and strived to increase student engagement within the field of older adults. She is also a contributor to the Academy of Geriatric Physical Therapy’s National Falls Prevention Awareness Day Toolkit, a document to serve as a resource for clinicians to organize a fall prevention event within their community. Holly has attained numerous awards and positions including the Geriatric Scholar Award from the Arkansas Geriatric Education Collaborative and the James McKenney Travel Award from the Gerontological Society of America.
Currently, Holly serves as the Early Professional Liaison for AGPT’s Balance and Falls Special Interest Group to aid in providing older adult resources to newly graduated clinicians to utilize in their profession. Her current experience within research and professional activism includes assisting in the composition of published manuscripts: Qualitative Evaluation of Interdisciplinary Service-Learning Experience to Assess and Manage Fall Risk in Community-Dwelling Older Adults, and Views of In-Person and Virtual Group Exercise Before and During the Pandemic in People with Parkinson Disease.
